Do I need rear speakers?

I have been reading on various forums about rear speakers not being needed for a SQ car audio build. Most of the arguments says the rear speakers are only needed if doing a 5.1 surround build (for movies and such). I only care about quality music reproduction. How many of you disconnect your rear speakers when upgrading your car audio system?

It's really up to you.

Some people like rear fill and some don't.

I disconnected my rear speakers.
The main reason was that my fronts were getting much more power. The rears were barely audible. It wasn't worth it to upgrade the rears for me.

No. You do not need rear speakers. Ever. Nobody does. The only sound coming from behind your listening position should be produced by a subwoofer. Have you ever been to a concert where the sound stage was set up with the speakers behind you? I didn't think so.

If you are upgrading your sound system then you do no need back speakers (unless you are really concerned with audio quality for your back passengers).

For stock systems sometimes you have to rely on back 6x9s to give you some bass.

No SQ build needs rear speakers. If rear seat passengers want better sound, sit in the front seat. If you care about awesome sound reproduction, take out the rear speakers. and that center speaker too while you're at it.

Ok, so you mentioned removing the center speaker also. I was about to ask if I should use that or not. Seemed like some posts I found mentioned people using the center channel. Will I lose any audio from the Navi if I remove the center channel?

Cool, sounds like my build is going to get easier than I thought. Well not easy, considering the extent of my sound dampening aspirations. lJust need to nail down my components.

There was/is a guy that goes by 'Bigaudiofan', he was/is on the My370Z.com
website and his advice is something I have never forgot. He had primers on all aspects of ICE audio that apply to all vehicles. I have Bose "Studio on Wheels"
on my G37S coupe, so it is not $wise to change out the system. Good luck, bro, would not hurt to check it out.

Yea same here. I actually bought expensive speakers for the rear and realized I wasn't money. I also unplugged my rear speakers.

The center speaker on a Coupe is only active on surround movies.
Yeah, I watch Terminator in my car, when waiting for the wifey in stores.
