Proper use of various forums

I have noticed (and moved) a number of threads lately that are placed in the Tech forums (G37 Coupe and G37 Sedan) that should have been created in the Regional forum. What goes in the regional Forum? Here are some examples:

A thread like "What's a good body shop in OC?" should go in the SoCal Regional forum because SoCal locals are the only ones who would know the answer. It has nothing to do with technical aspects of a G37 Coupe and doesn't belong in that forum. Besides, G37Sam in UAE wouldn't have a clue and can't help you. Same with threads like "Wheres a good tint shop in Dallas?" (South Forum) or "White Castle meet in LI" (Northeast forum) Please don't place threads of local or regional interest only in the tech forums.

In short, take a moment to think about where a new thread should be created first before just dropping it in the Coupe or Sedan tech forums. If you go to the correct place for your question or announcement, you may find the answer is already there by browsing some of the existing threads.

You may also notice that your newly created thread has been merged with another thread. If you created another "What's the best motor oil?" thread, chances are that a Mod or Admin might have moved it to a thread called "The DEFINITIVE oil thread". There's good reason for this. If there are 36 different threads asking the exact same question, the answers are fragmented all over the place and you may not get all the information without having to search and then read 36 different threads (that will mostly say the same thing). If you post your new question in that thread, it keeps the thread going and relevant (even though it is already sticky) and puts all the info in one central place where it's easier to find. Got a dyno sheet for your newly installed new mods and tune? Congrats! Feel free to post a thread about it. But you can also post it in the sticky MYG37.com Member Dyno Sheet thread too for comparison to other dyno sheets.

Funny videos go in the OT > Entertainment forum, not the Media Share > Video forum which is for G related stuff.

Etc., etc. There's other examples as well. Hopefully you get the point. If you have a question, PM a staff member and ask.

Happy posting!

Bumping this because the Coupe and Sedan forums are still being used as a catch all for threads that are of local/regional interest only and various other misuses. Please be discerning as to where you post your new threads and do your best to post them in the correct forum please.

Thanks.
