How to remove scratches on the interior vinyl door panel
So, I got a car was and it came back with nasty scratch on the vinyl door panel. Here is how I removed it.
1. Use a heat gun or a gas lighter.
2. Clean the area with soap and water to remove any flammable vinyl dressing and let it dry.
3. Slowly build up heat to the scratched area with the heat gun or lighter and press down the scratch with your finger. I used the lighter flame to heat up the area several time and lightly pressing down the scratch to melt it back in.
4. Let it cool down and you are done.
Ps. Be very careful not to over heat one spot for long time.

Just curious, can you take a pic of how it looks now?
I have some minor scratches I'd like to bring down with a heat gun, but I don't want "shiny" spots on the door panel where it got heated either.

I have some scratches on my dash as well. I bought my car used and it looks like a purse was thrown onto the dash. I tried using a heat gun but it didn't work. I don't think I got the dash hot enough. I don't want to be too adventurous and mess up my dash.

I used a lighter since I wanted to focus on smaller area at a time.
You have to keep in mind that car dash can handle high temp so you gotta heat it up above 100-110 degree.

Thanks, I will give it a try. How close did you get to the vinyl, and how long did you heat it up before you could smooth it out?

I was very careful so here is what I did:

2. Remove the heat and lightly touch/press down the surface. 1-2 sec.
3. Heat it up little more and lightly press down again and repeat.
What you want to do is heat just enough to melt the vinyl/stick it back on without burning it.
