Intelligent Key Battery already discharged
Bought my car 11/08/07...7900 miles thus far....and already getting a indicator on my dot matrix display indicating that that it's approx. half way discharged! According to the manual, I'm supposed to replace the battery.
I was told that the charge was supposed to last about 3 years. Has anyone had this same issue? Infiniti says it just needs a simple $7 watch battery...but I'm just a little irritated that it's already discharged after 9 months.

My G37 will be a year old in a few weeks and I do not have this issue. I would start using the other IK and see if the same thing happens. Perhaps you just had a bad battery in the one.

Sweet P i have the same problem as you and I got my car on 12/21/2007- I also wondered why the battery discharged so fast. And it annoyingly shows it to me everytime i enter the car/turn it on!

To replace the battery the manual (page 8-21) says to insert a flat-blade screwdriver wrapped in a cloth into the tiny slit at the base to separate the two halves and there it is.

^ No really, that's exactly what my vendor told me when I was buying the car, and I did beleive him until I finally read the manual and saw no mention of this, then I just used the Logic... if it was to re-charge the battery, where are the contact points...?

They mentioned that I probably just got a bad battery...but damn...never had to replace a battery with any other key remotes (viper) on my old cars.
Funny thing is....is that the dealer told me that leaving the key in your pocket CONSERVES the battery as opposed to pressing the buttons on the intelligent key to unlock the car. Makes me wonder how much sooner it would have discharged had I used it the old school way!
